About the ADS

In order to certify a proofing system, Manufacturers of off-press proofing systems have always been required submit a  Application Data Sheet (ADS) developed from a standard template along with representative proofs for evaluation . The ADS is critical because it  provides directions for producing proofs that meet the criteria of a "Certified  Proof." For hard copy proofing systems, the proofs produced according to the ADS are visually examined or defaults and then evaluated "to the numbers" a within given tolerances.  Beginning in 2007 monitor proofing certification follows a very similar forumla.

The Application Data Sheet presents manufacturer's recommendations including sequence, colorants and substrate, which when followed, result in appropriate colorimetric (CIELAB)  data that provide the best match to an ideal characterization data set for the aim. Additionally,  proof's will be verified to be in conformance to the manufacturer's Application Data Sheets.
